Crocodiles will be taking over the Museum of Wellington City & Sea on Thursday 15 May at 5.30pm as part of the Museum’s 3rd Thursday programme. Armed with a red wagon and guitar, the crocodiles will kidnap an audience member, and then will make them read their favourite stories around the Museum.
The two live performers (costumed in crocodile suits) take joy in discovering and sharing the unique past of Wellington. Leading the audience around the Museum, the crocodiles will present Wellington’s history in a comical and light hearted performance. Tales and Tails is suitable for the whole family and anyone who dares to challenge a crocodile.
Public Programmes and Learning Manager Rachel Ingram says, “The Museum of Wellington City & Sea’s new 3rd Thursday programme is an exciting step for the Museum. The late night openings mean that the Museum’s taonga will be available to view after work hours with an added bonus of a variety of free and live entertainment. Coming up later this year in 3rd Thursday is Chamber Music and even a special spooky stories programme.”
At 6.30pm, the crocodiles hand the show over to Andy Laking in Singing Our Stories. Andy and his band showcase songs from their latest album, which was inspired by the Museum’s stories.
Every 3rd Thursday of each month, the Museum of Wellington City & Sea will stay open late until 8.30pm to showcase Wellington’s history, people, taonga and culture.
