For the twenty-five years the Waitakere Trust Art Awards, held under the auspices of the Waitakere Central Community Arts Council, has attracted entries from a wide and diverse community of artists. The awards have a total prize pool of $15,000 with a premier award of $4,000. The winning work is acquired by the Waitakere Licensing Trust and there is now a collection of over thirty works which the trust will offer through a silent auction as an adjunct to this year's awards to be held at the Corban Estate between the 17th and 25th of November.

The proceeds from this sale will go to supporting Hospice West Auckland – an organisation that sits at the heart of the community in offering palliative care to West Aucklanders facing their closing days. There couldn't be a more worthwhile charity to support.

The paintings vary from the contemporary to the more traditional; the common denominator being that they are the crème de la crème of each year's entries.

The silent auction creates a gentle and elegant competitiveness with the bidder making the highest offer becoming the successful purchaser of the work.

The trust is expecting that art collectors both private and corporate will find the combination of original work of high quality, and the opportunity to support the hospice movement, irresistible.

The collection includes works by Derek March, Michael Rowlands, Mark Cross, Zeke Wolf and many others.
