Announcement early line up for Show Me Shorts

SHOW ME SHORTS Film Festival is thrilled to make the early announcement of five films which will be part of their 2012 programme. These films, along with 35 others, were chosen from hundreds of entries. Entries have been received from 29 countries this year, and the standard was extremely high.

The full line up for the festival will be announced on 4 October.

  • THE DUMP by Hamish Bennett is a touching story of 11-year-old Utah discovering there is more to his dad that just rubbish. Show Me Shorts is pleased to present this NZ film, which has been selected for a host of festivals worldwide, including Palm Springs and Nevada City Film Festival.
  • OFF MAIL ORDER BRIDE by Alan D. Parr. Show Me Shorts is the World Premiere of award winning NZ writer, Alan D. Parr’s first funded short film. A fantastical comedy; Edward divorces his mail order robot wife when he falls in love with Sarah, but discovers the robot ex gets half of everything he owns. However, he gets to keep his robotic ex from the waist down…. Can he have his cake and eat it too?
  • UNDYING LOVE by Icelandic film maker Omae Orn Hauksson. Another World Premiere, the film is an action-packed zombie thriller with a twist of romance. How far will a man go to hold on to love?
  • CEDRIC & HOPE by Pierce Davison is the latest animated short by Australian film makers the DavisonBros. The World Premiere, Cedric must become a battle-hardened knight to win back his princess girlfriend Faith. But is that what he really wants?
  • THE VELOCITEERS is a documentary by Nina Wells, Ruth Barton and Aasta Louise Otnes. It follows the The Velociteers, an Auckland based synchronised bicycle group, through a season of performances, telling the story of their formation. Show Me Shorts will be the documentary’s World Premiere.

The SHOW ME SHORTS film festival will screen in 12 cinemas around New Zealand, commencing 1 November at the Capitol Cinema In Auckland. This is the seventh year.
