Small But Perfectly Formed

Now in its second year, the Artists Alliance residency has once again meant that the executive director’s office has been re-purposed to provide a studio space for resident Tiffany Rewa Newrick to spend six dedicated weeks exploring new ideas.

You are invited to an open studio event.

Come and meet the artist and view her sculptural collection.

When: Saturday November 3 & Sunday November 4, 11am – 3pm

Where: Artists Alliance, 1b Ponsonby Road, Ponsonby.

In association with Artweek Auckland artweekauckland.co.nz

Tiffany Rewa Newrick is a sculptor and installation artist whose interest lies in the performativity of the sculptural object. During the Artists Alliance residency, Newrick has explored the relationship between the viewer and the object, and how this relationship can be activated through the functionality of the sculptural object. Through reconstructing the found object, Newrick has created a collection of small sculptural works designed to house items of entrusted value: sentimental treasures and keepsakes. The works are crafted from a 1950s drawer set as their foundation, and repurposed to essentially create sculptural art objects that are playful, yet fully functional.
