Local Art Award: Beer Drinkers Decide Winner

Over the next few weeks if you pop into your local Sprig & Fern Tavern, you can influence the result of their next beer label.

For the second year in a row, Art Expo Nelson and Sprig & Fern are offering a unique opportunity for one New Zealand artist to have their artwork on a beer label.  Four finalists have been chosen and voting is now underway.  Everyone who visits one of their nine Sprig & Fern taverns between now and 12 September can vote on their favourite image.

Sprig & Fern Brewery Owner and Head Brewer, Tracy Banner, has no doubt that customers will enjoy the voting opportunity.

“There was quite a bit of hype in the taverns last year about the [2014 limited edition] American Pale Ale label. I can see plenty of votes being cast and lots of discussions happening.  Anyone is welcome to pop in and vote too, they don't have to buy a drink to qualify.”

The winner will be announced at Art Expo Nelson in Labour Weekend where the people’s favourite will be revealed for the first time.  As well as seeing their artwork on the rigger of a Sprig & Fern Pilsner, it will be for sale in selected supermarkets and liquor stores throughout the country.  The artist will also win $1000 in prize money.

The four finalists are from Tasman, Nelson and Temuka.  Their identities remain anonymous during the voting process.

Sprig & Fern Taverns are located in Nelson, Tahunanui, Richmond, Brightwater, Mapua, Motueka as well as Thorndon and Petone in Wellington.
