Fourth year Wanganui Quay School of the Arts student Bonnie Wroe is continuing to taste success as an artist.

Her HB pencil drawings have already gained her substantial recognition and reward.

Bonnie won one of the country’s richest art scholarships for students, the pattillo scholarship, in October last year with her entry called Little Ashes.
As her prize, the Bachelor of Fine Arts student received $7,500 and a commemoratory medal sculpted by nationally recognised jewellery artist Frances Stachl.
Along with the award Bonnie was offered mentoring from the Artists Alliance, an international organisation set up to advance the interests of visual artists.

Now she has topped a group of twelve student artists in a competition to supply the cover image for the Spring issue of the Artists Alliance magazine Art All.

Bonnie majors in painting with a strong focus on drawing. She says she has drawn since she was three years old. “It has been my passion for as long as I can remember, and will continue to be for the rest of my life.”
“My drawings are an extension of myself; the time invested in each is immense and obsessive, the subjects reflect my own perceptions of beauty.”
