Chromacon Indie Arts Festival returns in April 2017

Following two successful festivals in 2013 and 2015, we are pleased to announce Chromacon’s return to Aotea Centre from 8 – 9 April 2017!

Chromacon is a curated indie arts festival that celebrates the coming together of community, creativity and innovation. In 2017, Chromacon will continue our tradition of presenting a curated line-up of local creators and international guests to connect New Zealanders with the best homegrown independent creators of illustration, comics, 3D/ sculpture, animation, videogames and much more.

Once again, Auckland Live joins Chromacon as our Venue Partner, making the Festival possible over two days and two floors of Aotea Centre: Upper & Lower NZI. This year, we’re excited to announce that Chromacon is expanding to Limelight Room and making it a dedicated interactive zone for indie games, and more indoor & outdoor creative activities.

At Chromacon, you’ll find original artwork and creative projects from a range of media, styles, and genres. You will also be able to purchase self-published work such as prints, art books, comics or even originals directly from the creative themselves. Chromacon will also host live events, games, drawing/painting demos, and artist talks over the weekend.

Alongside the Festival we will present Chroma Connect, a programme of industry sessions designed to inspire, inform and empower professional development for creatives, students and hobbyists alike. Chroma Connect features some of the best and most experienced practitioners in New Zealand’s visual arts, as well as international guests and speakers to be announced soon.

Applications to exhibit at Chromacon 2017 are now being accepted. Chromacon is all about celebrating and making accessible art that is illustrative in nature and being inclusive of all styles or genres. So, if you’re passionate about storytelling and you’re interested in applying to exhibit, please check out our Exhibitor Applications  and get your application in!
