In these times of economic hardship, when boutique design stores and art galleries are closing left right and centre, artists and designers are taking innovative new approaches to promoting and preserving New Zealand’s unique emerging creative culture.

Auckland based creative collective Sideroom.com, founders of Sideroom.com Gallery and Creative Space, Sideroom.com Magazine, the Alt TV live to air series Sideroom TV and the team behind 2008's 42 BELOW™ Month of Street Art, are taking a radical step towards the future of art and culture by going completely online.

Sideroom.com Online Art and Culture Magazine will go live during the week of May 25, 2009. The artists and exhibitions of Sideroom.com Gallery and Creative Space will combine forces with the quality content of Sideroom.com Magazine and Sideroom TV to produce the completely integrated online art and culture community www.sideroom.com.

This is an exciting point in Sideroom.com’s history and signals a big shift in their approach to promoting art. This online focus will allow for the potentially unlimited growth of the Sideroom.com creative community on an international scale.

With the support of Tiger Beer Sideroom.com will celebrate the launch of the new site with a massive party on June 13, 2009 at The Bacco Room, 53 Nelson St, Auckland. The party will feature live web streams, performance artists, and an impressive line up of local musicians.

With the support of Omni Graphics the Sideroom.com artists have created their largest artwork yet, a bright and explosive billboard promoting the launch of Sideroom.com Online Art and Culture Magazine. This will be displayed on Auckland's Khyber Pass from May 19 – June 19, 2009.

This is an exciting event for the local creative community and signals a step towards the future with a new way of promoting, viewing and engaging with art.
