FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“Fashion and sustainability in the heart of Grey Lynn”

Auckland, New Zealand

PRESS RELEASE - The latest buzzword in fashion is upcyling; turning something unloved and unwanted into something beautiful and unique.

For label Lucy*Mae’d everything from jar lids to old curtains is an opportunity to create something out of this world. Inspired by freedom, and empowerment through transformation, self-expression, colour, culture and spontaneity, Grey Lynn designer, Lucy-Mae Goffe-Robertson specializes in creating sustainable one-off pieces out of anything around her. Pieces are upcycled from old garments, damaged fabric, remnants and fabrics from other pieces.

“Recreating from waste is important, I want to elevate the old into a new life. Old fabric and clothes carry a history and a past soul that needs to be honored. I want to treasure and honor by up-cycling these into new garments and that makes them unique and more beautiful.”

Since her market days Lucy-Mae has remained true to the environment and sustainability. Through upcyling, the designer has realised how empowering being able to recreate trash into clothing or jewelry is.

“This is my world and I upcycle it and experiment based on what catches my fancy. I aspire to inspire and encourage others, as I am inspired by this conscious thought wave. Let's change the pace of fashion by upcycling”

On the 18th of October, Lucy-Mae Goffe-Robertson will be relocating her eclectic boutique to a bigger space within Grey Lynn. Located at 602 Great North Road, the store will feature one-off Lucy*Mae'd designs, as well as her fabrics, cutting table, and sewing machines. At the studio boutique is where you will find her working on her experimental ideas while simultaneously championing sustainability, and naturally, inspiration

“I aspire to inspire and encourage others, as I am inspired by this conscious thought wave. Let's change the pace of fashion by upcycling and wear the soul on our sleeves”.
