Artists Fatu Feu’u, Mark Wooller and Rozi Demant are exhibiting in Wellington, for a Pop-up one week show in Cuba Street opening on Monday 9th November.
Each artist brings something different to this exhibition and each is highly skilled in their particular genre. Fatu Feu’u is NZ’s most celebrated south Pacific artist who was awarded a NZOM in 2001. He is represented in galleries throughout the world and the major work “Aso Fanau” has recently returned from a major exhibition in Cologne. Mark Wooller is an artist who is painting a subject which is extremely relevant – the continued loss of our heritage in respect of the kauri, native forests and heritage houses.
His work is extremely detailed, much of the imagery being based on original 19th century land subdivisions and streets. Painted detailed maps and land transfer documents are often included in the imagery. Rozi Demant’s career began as a teenager with surreal depictions of burlesque style figures in brooding landscapes.
Now in her late 20’s Demant’s style has progressed significantly to more realistic and delicate self-portraits.
“Positively Three” opens on Monday 9th November, with a late night evening opening on Tuesday 10th November from 5.30pm - 7.30pm. The exhibition is on view at the In Good Company Gallery space, 166A Cuba Street (upstairs) from 9th November – 13th November. General Exhibition Hours: Monday – Friday 11am – 5pm each day and a late night Tuesday 10th Nov 5.30pm - 7.30pm
