Its one small step at Carter Observatory as Fly Me to the Stars takes you to the furthest reaches of space in your ideal interstellar spacecraft. But what will you do once you get there and how will you survive in a mysterious alien world…? Think sci-fi and reach for the stars. And it’s not just sci-fi that has you taking to the skies - with Let’s Go Make a Kite at the Museum of Wellington City & Sea, you’ll discover it’s not called Windy Wellington for nothing! Learn all about the craft and make your own traditional diamond kite and box kite from scratch - will yours survive the city of wind?
Keep your feet on the ground and you’ll see there’s still plenty of fun to be had! Pop into the Museum of Wellington City & Sea for a Pop-Up Books Pop-Up Workshop and experience how stories come to life. Discover the art of pop-up books, how they are made then unleash the budding artist within and create your own to take home to family and friends. Want to think bigger? Then make your way to Moving Marvels - the Art of Kinetic Sculptures; experiment, design and build your own dynamic marvel with inspiration from a special tour of Len Lye: Kaleidoscope at the City Gallery Wellington.

Capital E National Theatre for Children is delighted to present a new production of the highly energetic and captivating Seasons at Downstage Theatre this April. Described as “children’s theatre at its magical best,” Seasons transports children and adults alike into nature’s world of wonder, using a mix of song, dance and puppetry. Set amid our ever-changing seasonal calendar, this beautifully crafted work is ideal for 2-7 year olds and shows why there are seasons and what’s so special about each one. After each performance there’s a chance to create your very own autumn leaf or winter snowflake so you can decorate your room with a Seasons momento.

New Ways of Seeing - Mobile Movie-Making will provide you with everything you need to produce a pitch-trailer for your own epic movie. You’ll even get your trailer on the web to be shared with a worldwide audience…who knows who might be watching. Then it’s ready, set, Stop-Mo Go to experience the spellbinding magic of stop-motion animation. Create your own unique frame-by-frame videos, learn the tricks and techniques to bring models to life and experience shooting your animated movie. At the end of the workshop you will have an animated masterpiece to share with everyone!
