Gorge yourself on live performance at Bite Size Fringe

Fresh from rave reviews at the 2009 Auckland Fringe, STAMP has chosen three diverse Fringe productions to offer a special triple billing as part of the Autumn/Winter STAMP programme.

Bitter sweet theatre piece Ruby Tuesday, site-specific dance installation Before the Break and hip hop musical LightBulbMan are all set to wow audiences who want a taste of something that’s fresh, innovative and eclectic.

Playing at the Herald Theatre, Aotea Centre, THE EDGE®, Bite Size Fringe will run from Tuesday 21st to Saturday 25th July bringing together three shows all for the price of one regular ticket.

With zany characters ranging from high school student Angelica who’s obsessed with Harry Potter to LightBulbMan emerging from a Glen Innes soup kitchen, there is some seriously good acting, live music performance and moments of truth to be found in the three shows.

In Ruby Tuesday, the lives of an eclectic handful of characters intersect over the course of a typical high school day. The audience is quickly drawn into a fraught environment where words and actions can have dire consequences.

Paranormal murder mystery meets rap-style musical in the story of LightBulbMan, who thinks of himself as a vigilante superhero, cursed by a monkey... and so the drama unravels.

Dance collective Release Candidate relocate their site-specific dance work Before the Break, from its original 4am Fringe performance slot in a Karangahape Road car park, to outside the Herald Theatre for the July season of Bite Size Fringe. Two dancers and a musician create a captivating live installation in a performance that’s constantly changing and interacting with the audience.

“We have distilled the 75 events that were in Auckland Fringe 2009 down to three exquisite performances to give you a sample of what’s hot in the future of Auckland live performance,” says Sally Barnett, STAMP Producer, THE EDGE®.
