The draft Community Funding Policy is now available for feedback, so have your say.
Created as part of a review of all policies, plans and bylaws carried over from the former councils, its goal is to ensure a consistent approach to community funding across Auckland.
The new policy proposes community funding will be allocated based on the expected outcomes of a group’s activities, and how those activities link to local board plans, the Auckland Plan and the community.
It also introduces new measures to ensure groups are accountable for how they spend ratepayers’ money.
"The policy aims to make the most of the council’s political structure, with the governing body making regional decisions and the local boards making decisions for their communities," says Auckland Council Governance Director Grant Taylor.
"Local boards offer thousands of dollars every year to support community groups and even more is given to support groups region-wide. It’s important people have their say about this policy to ensure funding support continues in a fair and accessible manner.
