Kia ora,

If creativity is the wellspring of a vibrant culture, at what point does something created become representative of that culture?

My name is Nikolas Brocklehurst and I am currently undertaking a Master’s degree through Massey University’s School of Visual and Material Culture in Wellington.

My thesis, entitled, Maori Culture at the digital interface: A study of the visual portrayal of cultural identity in the online environment, is examining how Maori cultural identity is being expressed visually online and if the use of digital technologies has enabled new ways to articulate Maori identity.

As part of my research I am undertaking an online questionnaire on Maori thoughts and usage of the Internet and digital technologies as transmitters of cultural identity.

If you are interested in Maori creative practices and online presence please take a few minutes to fill out my questionnaire. Please forward this information on to any relevant parties you think would be interested. The questionnaire is anonymous and open to anyone who has an interest in Maori online presence.

Click here to be taken to the questionnaire.
