Former Artistic Director and self-confessed 'Centrepoint baby’ Kate Louise Elliott has been appointed to the newly created position of General Manager at the Palmerston North based theatre.
“It feels like I am coming home,” she says.
Co-Chair of Centrepoint’s Palmerston North Theatre Trust Board Eddie Fraser-Hoskin says the Board is delighted to welcome Kate Louise back in her new capacity.
“We know this is a real coup and it is very exciting to have secured the talents and experience of someone who has devoted her career to the performance industry.”
Kate Louise has a long history with Centrepoint Theatre starting as an actor in 1998 and also held the role of Artistic Director from 2008-2012. During her Centrepoint tenure, she directed, managed and acted in more than 30 stage productions as well as driving the summer drama school for secondary and college students.
She has also worked in other cities as an Arts Centre Theatre Venue Manager, a Production Manager and more recently has held the reigns of the New Zealand Fringe Festival and the CubaDupa Festival, as well as implementing the Wellington arm of the New Zealand International Comedy Festival.
Kate Louise will work closely with the Theatre’s Creative Director Dan Pengelly, as well as the wider team to lead and grow Centrepoint’s strong 43-year tradition of professional theatre experiences.
Kate Louise will begin her new role on 17 August and says, “I am very happy and excited - I just can’t wait to get started!”
