'Your Surface Settles' follows the passage through grief, reflecting how fleeting our lives are and how short the overlap between them often is. The surface Keira's Grandmother once rippled has settled, yet she still moves through the branches of family that stem from her. This track was recorded and produced by Adelaide Dunn, with Craig Monk on violin.
Ōtepoti singer-songwriter Keira Wallace has gained a reputation as one of Dunedin’s most emotionally powerful songwriters. Reflective lyrics and performances full of breath and delicate charm deliver vulnerability and lasting warmth. They weave folk and lo-fi indie influences, being described as having "the depth of a true folk artist with the lightness of youth." With a folk duo, a shoegaze band, and a self-produced EP in the works, their solo performance remains a constant documentation throughout growth, complexity, and reflection.
Their last release won the Play It Strange National Secondary School Songwriting Competition, made it onto the Student Radio Network Top 10, and spent 9 weeks on the Radio One Top 11.
Keira is opening for Jazmine Mary's 'I Want to Rock and Roll' album release tour at Erricks, Ōtepoti, this Saturday 2nd August at 8pm.
