Dust off the easel and get out those canvases… the 2016 Molly Morpeth Canaday Award for Painting and Drawing is now open for entries.
Presented by Arts Whakatane in association with Whakatane Museum and Arts, this nationally-recognised art award will offer nine categories in 2016, including a $10,000 major award.
The vision of the awards is to encourage the development of painting and drawing on a nation-wide level and reward artists who create outstanding works; securing it as one of New Zealand’s most sought-after and notable art prizes.
The award has undergone many recent changes, including a new digital entry process, allowing each artist the option of entering two artworks. The new procedure will be held in two stages, eliminating the need to physically send in entries until the pre-selection has been completed.
Visit the Award’s updated website (www.mollymorpethcanaday.co.nz) for further information, frequently asked questions and the online digital entry form.
Intending entrants should note that the entry closing date has also changed; submissions must be received by 5.00pm, Friday 18th of December 2015 (don’t forget to press the submit button).
Exhibition opens Friday, 29th January, 2016 at Te Koputu a te whanga a Toi - The Whakatane Library and Exhibition Centre.
