A new collaboration between the Auckland War Memorial and Auckland artists has given birth to an exciting new project - Urbanlife 2012. Massive Company represents the voice of emerging artists working in theatre. 

Bringing life to museum collections! Bringing our issues to the forefront! Massive Company's South and Central Ensembles are 'bringing it', as part of Urbanlife which aims to give youth a platform to express their views on the city they live in.

Massive Company has collaborated with filmmaker's The Filth Collective to create an installation that is on view to the public throughout November, as part of the exhibition. 

Responding directly to the Auckland Macro Report 2011, six groups of rangatahi (15-24yrs) from across the city have tackled the big issues: employment, housing, culture, education, economic well-being and environment. The process started with the museum collections and used photos from the museum’s pictorial collections to spark inspiration, including the work of two female photographers Margaret Matilda White and Una Garlick. The issue Massive Company addressed is economic wellbeing.

We make theatre. We use our own stories. It's physical. It's about our community, our own well-being, in our own economy (family, church, commitments). It's our side of the story.
