NEW SOLVENT FREE ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY SCREEN PRINTING

We have been testing the new environment friendly screen printing inks at our Avondale studio and the results have been fantastic.

The inks are solvent free with a very soft hand, even when printing colours on black and dark fabrics and unlike traditional Plastisol inks, the resulting print can be both ironed and dry cleaned

The feel of the print is always an important element of any garment, traditional prints in plastiol have a plastic or rubbery feel to them with a gloss to the print while the new solvent free water-based inks have a soft feel and are matt in appearance, giving the print a much more "natural" look especialy on screen printed t shirts.

I have always thought it odd that fashion companies will go out of their way to use green fabrics in their ranges only to slap a toxic plasticized print on them

We have also found the inks are reasonably difficult to use as being water-based they can tend to dry in the screen ( one reason other commercial screen printers are resisting using them ) so should only be attempted in longer runs by a fully qualified screen printer. we at Promotion Productions believe the resulting prints and environment safe properties of the ink are well worth the effort

Wash up is done with water rather than mineral Turpentine adding no dangerous chemicals to the environment

We should all be making an effort to help our environment and even small companies such as ourselves can make a difference. It only requires a bit of effort and testing and you may find, as we did, you can come up with a better product as well.

..and solvent free inks, you are creating a products that helps our environment and improve the lives of workers worldwide. Please do not support manufacturers without at least these certifications. There have been on-going tragidies Bangladesh and other countries in recent times by unscrupulous manufacturers who have caused the death of hundreds of poor workers in garment factories
