Awards for the Playwrights Association of New Zealand (PANZ) 2014 One-Act Play Competition were presented in Warkworth on November 16, 2014. 1st Place: "red-devil-1917" by Colin Beardon. 2nd Place: "Cliché" by Bronwyn Elsmore. 3rd Place: "Margaret Thatcher Hits New Zealand" by Rex McGregor. Highly Commended: "Three Weird Mornings at the Library" by Rex McGregor. Commended: "A Puppy with a Sore Paw" by Brian Turner. The three winning comedies are being offered as a single entertainment entitled "Fun Expected". If you haven’t seen and heard it all before in "Cliché", you need to go to the theatre more often. But you'll never guess what happens when extreme left-winger "red_devil_1917" sets out to change the world and extreme right-winger "Margaret Thatcher Hits New Zealand". PANZ President Richard Harris says, "This is an opportunity not to be missed. Three sparkling Kiwi plays in one hilarious production in which fun is not only expected but guaranteed!"
