Carrie Rae began working with NZ Dance Festival Trust in 2008. Her commitment to dance and dance artists and her talent for identifying and encouraging talent saw her appointed artistic director in 2015, presenting her own Tempo Dance Festival programmes in 2016-2018 to critical acclaim.
During her tenure as AD, she worked with the Tempo team to increase audience engagement significantly through strategic artistic programming. She developed networks with international festivals, artists and arts organisations, raising Tempo’s global profile as New Zealand's premiere dance event. She was a finalist in the Women of Influence awards 2017 for her contribution to dance.
Over the last 10 years, Carrie Rae has tirelessly advocated for New Zealand dance artists, becoming the go-to person consulted by arts festivals and venues when seeking new works or a verification as to quality. Carrie Rae’s deep knowledge of the current New Zealand contemporary dance industry is widely-respected and she is much-loved by emerging dance artists for her passionate advocacy for their careers.
“It has been my utmost pleasure to work with some of New Zealand’s most talented and inspiring artists and companies,” says Carrie Rae.
Carrie Rae has decided to move on to other projects in 2019 and we wish her the very best as she continues her journey in the arts.
