Pacific Dance NZ announces the choreographers in the
Pacific Dance Choreographic Lab 2018.
The Pacific Dance Choreographic Lab is now in its ninth year and this year marks the return to Wellington at the new Te Auaha NZ Institute of Creativity presented as part of the Measina Festival 2018.
Each year three Pacific choreographers are selected to create original danceworks over a six-to-eight-week period where they are matched with a senior dance mentor, are given a stipend and a showing opportunity.
Cat Ruka (Vivian Aue)
Tupua Tigafua (Andy Tilo)
and Joash Fahitua (Tofifailauga Misa)
This annual event is part of Pacific Dance NZ’s development programme where NZ based Pacific dance artists have the opportunity to envisage their new works and progress these through practical exploration and dancing out their ideas. Along the way, artistic support and guidance is provided by the senior dance mentors, allowing the dance artists to expand their ideas, skill-sets and professionalism in dance.
The public is invited to view the final showing of works from this year’s choreographic lab on:
