RE-THINKING A CITY FOR PEOPLE
‘Placemaking and Urban Renewal’ is a lunchtime forum, aimed at getting people excited about reclaiming the city back for the people that use it.
The Event, called ‘Placemaking and Urban Renewal’, has been created by a group of professionals from differing disciplines that care about our urban environments. Its goal is to present possibilities and opportunities for Tauranga, by asking the key questions about the City’s vision and its attitude about itself. A key part of this event is to celebrate what the character of our communities can be, and discover ways of transforming our thinking about our future direction. This event is part of the Tauranga Arts Festival Writers & Readers Programme.
The panel of professionals include:
Steven Chambers - Architect, Tauranga
Morné Hugo - Landscape Architect/Urban Designer, Tauranga
Michael Dunn - Brand Strategist, Tauranga
Dr Ottilie Stolte - Social Scientist,WaikatoUniversitySchool of Psychology
“This is a great event, an opportunity to show how we can all easily kick start positive change in our city, and spark enthusiasm for a creating a City that is vibrant and alive”, says Steven, one of the speakers.
Festival Director, Jo Bond says ‘we are delighted to be able to facilitate this kind of discussion as part of our Festival – simulating thought and hearing from a variety of perspectives is part of what a festival is all about’.
