The winners of the Playwrights Association of New Zealand One-Act Play Competition 2012 are:

  • 1st place: Richard Harris  Picasso Stayed Here

A light hearted play set in England’s peak district about visitors to a B&B who stumble upon a hitherto unknown Picasso work of art.  

  • 2nd place: Rex McGregor  Lady Godiva Doesn't Ride Again

A post-feminist comedy. The story of Lady Godiva’s ride has made her famous and popular. But her husband feels humiliated. Now he decides to settle the score. 

  • 3rd place: Narina Groome  A Word in Edgeways

A black comedy set in a New Zealand nursing home, involving the question of divine retribution for one of life's miscreants.
