Take My Shoes
In a handwringing monologue an ex-senior police sergeant talks about attitudes that seem to be contributing factors to violent offences in New Zealand. His concern echoes the community's fears with reference to inequity and violence in a small paradise. The sound of his voice knits together topical issues with distant world events spanning the time period between 2001 and 2008, the period of the 'War on Terror'. The video was created using a graphical programming environment to create audio-visual correspondences, exploring associations made between local issues and their relationship to fragments of world news media.
