TVNZ’s Digital Emmy Award-winning drama, Reservoir Hill, returns to TVNZ.CO.NZ for an all-new season from Monday September 13 - Reservoir Hill: Everyone Lies.
When we last saw our heroine, 18-year-old Beth Connolly (played by Beth Page Chote), she was recovering from the shock of discovering that she had been brainwashed to forget her previous identity, that of the conflicted and (according to her friends) somewhat devious and cruel Tara. Upon realising many people in her life had lied to her and helped to create her new identity of Beth because they despised Tara so much, Beth decided to keep her new kinder persona of Beth, but to return to her real family - her mother, Mrs Jay (Carmel McGlone), her half-brother, James (Dan Caddy) and half-sister, Lilli (Tai Berdinnerblade).
As the new season opens, Beth is trying to adjust to her new life with the Jays, whilst feeling conflicted about her old identity. She has so many questions that need answering: Why was she so nasty when she was Tara? Will this nasty side of her ever return? And what has happened to her father?
A new episode is written, produced and released each week of the series. The show's creators take the advice given by the viewers, via a 'Text Beth' function at the end of each episode, and the next stage of Beth's story is shot in time for the following week. This means that the story grows organically in real time and each episode is directly affected by the viewers' suggestions. Additionally, each time a viewer texts Beth, a special bonus scene will be unlocked, which helps to piece the puzzle of her life together.

New to the Reservoir Hill experience this time around is the 'Dreamspace', accessed via the Reservoir Hill website on tvnz.co.nz, which will allow viewers to explore Beth's nightmares. Reservoir Hill creators Thomas Robins and David Stubbs are very excited to have the Dreamspace addition to the show. Robins says it will "push the interactivity to a whole different level this season. It's a new audience experience, another world first".
Stubbs adds, "viewers who dare can also explore and interact with Beth's nightmares. You can use your computer mouse to uncover clues and unlock the secrets buried deep within Beth's subconscious."
Social media will again be a major part of the Reservoir Hill experience, with Facebook pages for each of the main characters, on which the general public can interact with the characters, give them advice, ask questions and form alliances with them.
Reservoir Hill: Everyone Lies is set to be darker and even more exciting than the first season, which saw the show win an International Emmy Award at Cannes last April. As Beth strives to find out who she really is and what is in store for her, fans will be glued to their screens for every episode, and the bonus content that allows them to explore the world of Reservoir Hill even further.
The first episode of Reservoir Hill: Everyone Lies will be available on TVNZ Ondemand from 5pm on Monday September 13, at tvnz.co.nz/reservoirhill
