A tutored workshop where participants will present original songs and explore new ways to vocally communicate these songs in a supportive and collaborative environment . Included are creative exercise and discussion to enhance flow and self reflection.
Vocalists: A technical vocal master class for beginners, refreshers and those seeking knowledge on expanding their range, character and strength in singing. This will include: Tutored individual vocal performance sessions with feedback and discussion from all participants. Technical solutions to common issues
Information of how to look after your voice and practical exercises to help build your skill set plus an opportunity to connect, network and perform with other vocalists and songwriters.
Tutored songwriting sessions where participants present their latest song(s) with feedback and discussion from all participants. Lyric writing exercises to explore new techniques and an explanation and analysis of the top five lyric writing techniques. Plus exercises to freshen your creative ear and imagination
Kiri Eriwata and Stephen Matthews are currently teaching songwriting and singing at theUniversityofAuckland's SchoolofMusic. Stephen has taught creative songwriting for the past ten years at the university and has also taught and coached singers for 20+years.
Kiri, is a lecturer at the Schoolof Musicat the Universityof Aucklandand is a vocal coach and musician. She is involved in co ordinating the Songwriter of the Year Awards on October 3. She is backing vocal with the soon to be heard New Zealandsong with Hollie Smith for the 2016 Rio Olympics. This year Kiri has had one of her song’s included on Tatou Tatou E 4 album of Urban inspired Maori World Music produced at Kog Studio.
