Corban Estate Arts Centre is proud to welcome you to our annual event, Open Arts Day, to immerse yourself in the arts and learn more about our local community.

Open Arts Day provides an exclusive look behind the scenes at our renowned creative hub in West Auckland. The site is home to an acclaimed contemporary art gallery, more than 20 onsite artists and arts organisations, and has been host to a variety of functions which include music concerts, filming locations, weddings and more.

The highlights of the day include open studios with artists and guided studio tours, alongside a number of exhibitions, free hands-on arts workshops, a dance class, live performances, artists’ talks, delicious food trucks, a café and a live mural painting on the graffiti wall.

Our studio artists and arts organisations have a diverse range of creative practices which include illustration, painting, dance, sculpting, installation, theatre and more, with a mixture of emerging, mid-career and senior practitioners. Many of the Corban Estate cohort are successful both commercially and critically, in domestic and international arenas. Here is your chance to talk one on one!

In our Homestead Galleries will be two new exhibitions which explore the wide spectrum of human emotions. Long time studio artist Tony Brown’s solo exhibition Paneke details how reaching out for help changed his life for the better, while group exhibition The Marketplace of Feelings examines the impact of modern anxieties and concerns on people today. The Neighbourhood exhibition, located in the Projectspace, will feature work by friends and whānau of Corban Estate.

Whether you’re currently participating in arts activities at the Estate or have never visited us before, come along, be inspired and get involved in all the creative stuff happening in our neighbourhood. Make a day of it! Indulge in brunch from the many tasty Food Trucks onsite for the day. Feast on organic and homemade food and coffee from our Coffee Studio café. Browse the gallery, chat with one of our resident artists in their studio, or go on a personalised tour with one of our team. Or take time out in one of our free workshops. There really is something for everyone here!
