German artist, Tina Schulz, arrives in Wellington on the 7th of February 2014 to take up a six week Artist Residency organised by the Goethe-Institut. This sponsorship will give her the opportunity to live and work in New Zealand and be inspired by its culture, nature and landscapes to further exciting projects.
Goethe-Institut residency programmes each year enable artists and other cultural ambassadors to spend time in another country and another culture for an extended period of time to afford them "space for new perspectives".
Tina Schulz was born in 1975 in Munich, Germany. Tools for her conceptual approach are drawings, paintings and sculptures but also videos and exibition installations as well as her writings. After finishing her German studies at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich she moved to Leipzig and studied Fine Arts as part of Astrid Kleins´ class at the Academy of Visual Arts (Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig, HGB). She graduated in 2004 and was later on involved in different teaching activities at the HGB. In 2010 Tina won the prestigious Dorothea von Stetten Art Award for young artists. She has had residencies in Paris, Brussels and Los Angeles. She lives currently in Brussels and Berlin.
