Feeling flat from the cold weather? Head down to the Unitec's Department of Performing and Screen Arts in Mt Albert, Auckland and re-energise your senses with a feast of experimental hybrid art and theatre.

The double-billing kicks off on Wednesday, 29 June at the Unitec Dance Studios, Building 7, with The Gallery - a hybrid art performance which investigates themes and concerns devised by 27 contemporary dance, acting, performance technology and design students. The students find novel and challenging ways to confront issues that are central to their perceptions of 21st century existence, having studied the work of leading transmedia and hybrid art practitioners.

The Gallery will be a thought-provoking two hour experience where audience members will interact with installation and performance in environments at once usual and unfamiliar. The season runs from 29 June - 2 July starting 7pm, and entry is by koha donation.

"The themes concern us all; the artistic exploration of them is singular, confronting, stimulating," says co-supervising tutor and Head of Live Performance, John Davies.

Running simultaneously at the Unitec Theatre will be Quick Fix, a snappy season of 21 fast, sharp and original plays, written and directed by Unitec Year 2 Students. The season runs from 30 June - 3 July.
