Waitakere Orchestra is 10 years old and still going strong!

It is with pleasure that we announce our forthcoming concert at Queens Birthday weekend, to celebrate our 10th Anniversary.

Saturday June 1st 8pm at Glen Eden Playhouse 15 Glendale Road, Glen Eden, Waitakere City

Programme: Handel Concerto Grosso in B flat, Opus 3, No.2 Weber Clarinet Quintet (string orchestra version) with soloist Rowan Meade Grieg Holberg Suite Ives The Unanswered Question (1906) Handel's Concerto Grosso Op 3, No.2 features enchanting solo parts for violin, cello and oboe;

Weber's clarinet quintet is a lively, lyrical, well known work classical from the classical period; Grieg's much loved Holberg Suite shows off the beauties of the string orchestra; and our final work by the great American composer Charles Ives is mysterious and contemplative, and has been described thus:"(In) the ‘cosmic landscape’ of The Unanswered Question, a trumpet repeatedly poses ‘the eternal question of existence’ against a haunting background of strings, finally to be answered by an eloquent silence."
