Artrium Gallery Announces the winners of the 2013 Wellington Emerging Artists Competition! Alan Hodgetts took the grand prize - overall winner for his charcoal - NAVIGATOR. Frances Ratner was runner-up overall and also took 1st and 2nd place in photography for her 2 black and white photographs, SELF PORTRAIT WITH SCAR & ELINOR SUZANNE.
The competition is in it's third year hosted by Artrium Gallery and is designed for Wellington region artists only. It speaks wonders to the amount of local talent.
There were 4 categories this year, Works on Canvas, Works on Paper, Photography and 3-D Works. The category winners also include: Canvas - 1st place - Keely Meechan for FOUR, 2nd place - Jamie Mackman - UNTITLED NUDE, and 3rd place - Mary Marinan - OUT OF THE ASHES.
Paper - 1st place - Jeehye Shin - BOING, 2nd place - Nikki Forsyth - POWER
3-D 1st place - Anya Gladstone - THAT TIME I BROKE MY BRAIN and 2nd place - Mary Marinan - Gilded Daisy.
