Greenstone TV and CJZ are delighted to announce Malorie Carey as the winner of The Next Big Idea.
As well as receiving $10,000, Malorie is taking the opportunity to further develop her family drama proposal High Frequency during an internship at Greenstone.
24-year-old Malorie is currently studying at The New Zealand Film & Television School in Wellington. "CJZ has always been passionate about fostering new talent and the Next Big Idea competition has certainly flushed out some really talented young New Zealanders.
We are thrilled to offer the prize to Malorie for her work and equally happy she has accepted to join us as an intern," says Matt Campbell, CJZ Group CEO.
The Next Big Idea brought in 100 proposals across factual, drama and entertainment genres and the Greenstone team is impressed with the range of original ideas. “As well as some strong submissions from industry professionals, I was thrilled to see the number of teenagers who sent in really imaginative proposals,” says Rachel Antony, Greenstone’s Development Executive. “Our youngest entrant was just 12 years old, with a lovely sense of story.”
Greenstone is also in discussion with the originators of several highly commended ideas about options and further development, including Faramarz Beheshti (documentary), Peter Feeney and Robin Walters (comedy), Michael Bennett and Jane Holland (drama-doc) and Veronica Schmidt and Felicity Monk (comedy-drama).
