Poison Spike is a new line of experimental art-fashion fusion clothing and accessories. It’s fun, slow and New Zealand made. The brand-new collection will be launched online on Friday December 3rd, with a celebratory event to follow up on the weekend of 11-13 March 2022. The temporary showroom will exist for three days in March, comprising a post-launch, post-lockdown party on Friday, and a pop-up store open to all on Saturday and Sunday.
Behind the label is Auckland based Mother-Daughter team, made up of visual artist Priscilla Hunter, a recent MFA graduate of Whitecliffe, and fashion designer Sue Barrett, a dressmaker with 40+ years of experience in the fashion industry.
These strange times call for strange self expression. This foray into garment-based art pieces is inspired by natural wonders, emporium bargain bins and hallucination colour schemes. Poison Spike brings something new to the table; beautifully made clothing infused with painting, sculpture, printmaking and vibrancy.
