The 19th Christchurch Big Band Jazz Festival is a five day music festival held over Labour weekend in Christchurch featuring 35 Big Bands.

 

Most events are free of charge, and have provision to purchase food and drink and give a koha. It's a weekend to enjoy the best of the central city in the spring and enjoy uplifting big band music and dance.

  • Fat Eddies
  • The Church Pub
  • A Rolling Stone
  • The Arts Centre
  • The Archery Lawn in the Botanic Gardens
  • The Piano
  • The Court Theatre Foyer
  • The Salvation Army
  • The Terrace

 

Ticketed events:

  • The Gala Concert featuring the fabulous “Symposium Big Band” with Tom Rainey on piano and Naormi Fergison as MC, opened by CYJO, The 2025 auditioned Christchurch Youth Jazz Orchestra.
  • The Big Band Boogie Ball in the Great Hall, Arts Centre
  • Workshops
