Join multidisciplinary artist, Zoë Nash, for this two-day short course that takes a closer look. Working from selected printed media as initial source material, we will explore a variety of ways to create stylised patterns, and playful abstract shapes and forms.
Through the use of zooming, framing and cropping devices, we will experiment with the distortion of scale to aid in the development of dynamic and thought-provoking compositions. Along the way we'll discuss and examine the works of artists who have elevated this technique such as Georgia O'Keefe and Sarah Graham.
Students will come away with a range of works that focus on a subject of their own choice. Nature, science, architecture, and product design are just some of the possibilities.
Drawing, collage, simple acrylic painting, and some introductory mixed media applications will be used. The class is open to any level of experience, but some degree of independence would be beneficial.
