Inspired by Pop art we’re inviting you to come and contribute to making community quilts to donate to a charitable organisation.
Using clean, donated cotton fabric we will practice the craft of sashiko to stitch shapes onto panels to create functional and attractive quilts. Each person will work on their own fabric panel, and the panels will then be joined together by quilting experts to make the final product.
This activation will be led by artists from Auckland Quilt Guild and supported by our Gallery team. No need to book ahead, this is a drop-in activity so you can stay for 30 minutes or the whole 5 hours – and come back on Sunday. Open to all ages. Children under 12 will require the assistance of their parent/caregiver.
