Domesticated

Servile, soft-spoken, fragile, ever-pleasing. These are the expectations women inherit, even when they don’t fit.

A collaboration between
Catherine Guevara & Robbi Carvalho

Domesticated reimagines ceramic jewellery as silent instruments of submission. Unwearable, uncomfortable, and deliberately inappropriate, these pieces echo the ways gendered norms shape and constrain our gestures, voices, and freedoms. Inviting viewers to reflect on the invisible burdens carried daily, Domesticated becomes both an unsettling provocation and a reclamation of space.

This project continues the explorations begun in 2024 and features a collaborative work created by 20 women — a necklace symbolising resilience, shared healing, and empowerment through collective making.
