"For me, creating art is less about meaning and more about visual expression—the need to unload what’s in my head; the opportunity to explore colour, form, shape, and texture. It’s in the layering where it all comes together.
I think that’s why I find oil paints so satisfying—the layering of opaque and translucent glazes reveals depth and brings out the light and life of the work.
It’s like having a great conversation with someone who gets you—bringing clarity and beauty into a space.
I think there is nothing wrong, and everything right, with loving art purely for how it makes you feel—for the colour, texture, mood, or story it brings into your space.
Visual and visceral pleasure is enough."
