In this course, the students will learn to identify the most important cities and developments in the territory. The course will start with the origins of civilisation up to the year 1521, marked by the fall of Tenochtitlan.

The eight sessions will cover Architecture and Sculpture from the following cultures in chronological
order:

1. Early civilisations in the Mexican Valley, Cuicuilco, Tlatilco and Teotihuacan.
2. The Olmecas in Tabasco and Veracruz.
3. The Mixtecas and Zapotecas. Mitla and Monte Alban in Oaxaca.
4. The Mayas in Yucatan Peninsula and Chiapas.
5. The Totonacas in Veracruz.
6. The Toltecas in the Central Plateau.
7. The Aztecs and the Grand Tenochtitlan.
8. Conclusion and research resources.
