Join Tāmaki Makaurau based artist, Zoë Nash, for this creative weekend all about ink. Here you’ll be taught a wide range of inky applications and techniques including: working with resists, making washes and stains, additions, removals, the effects of different surfaces, wet on wet, and how to use a dip pen and ink. We’ll also briefly explore the use of alcohol inks, and experiment with making a range of innovative and emotive marks in ink using some unexpected and playful drawing tools. Additionally, students will be introduced to a selection of contemporary artists who work with ink in a variety of inspiring and exciting ways.
Day One consists of a series of group activities helping to develop confidence and understanding of the media. Day Two gives students the opportunity to create a more self-directed project.
This course is suitable for any level of experience. Students will come away with some finished small works in ink on paper as well as have an understanding about how ink can be combined with other medias.
