What:  The Musical Theatre NZ Conference is packed with: twenty development workshops covering a wide variety of theatrical disciplines, the iTICKET National Theatre Awards Dinner, The MDR Lighting Gala Ball, networking opportunities, social events, the MTNZ AGM followed by G&T Productions lunch, the MTNZ Theatre EXPO - and much more. 

Theatre enthusiasts from around Aotearoa gather to participate and immerse themselves in this utterly fabulous weekend full of theatre. If you love theatre and the performing arts this is one event not to miss.  

 

Notable workshop presenters include: Mark Dorrell - Singing Sondheim; Fifi Colston (WOW awards winner) - Make a Masquerade Mask and Costuming Head Pieces/Feet from scavenged items; Ben Hambling - Set Design - Broadway Ambitions vs. Amateur Budget; Kristina Hockey (Voice Physiotherapist) - Caring for the Vocal Athlete; and Jenni Murphy-Scanlon on Creating Phenomenal Team. When and where: Held in Rotorua on the 15-17 March 2024 at the Distinction Hotel Rotorua.

 

Who: MTNZ have been challenging the idea that conferences are for committees and governance boards only. Our line up of training, networking and celebration is intentionally diverse catering to a wide range of needs, interests and ages. The youngest attending our conference last year was aged 12. 

Theatre groups, performing arts schools, theatre based educators, societies, affiliated organisations/individuals: nau mai, haere mai - all are welcome. 

 

Cost: 

  • Full weekend registrations are $380 (including both evening functions, all training, all networking, AGM lunch, AGM morning tea, Sunday brunch, the Theatre EXPO and the Saturday evening social hour).
  • Training/Networking full weekend - $150 
  • The iTICKET Friday awards dinner - $90
  • The MDR Sound and Lighting Saturday Gala Ball - $150
