Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre proudly presents the 6th annual Sculpture Festival - a vibrant celebration of object art, contemporary jewellery, and outdoor sculpture created by over 50 of Aotearoa’s most exciting artists.

For 2025, the festival introduces a completely revitalised curatorial team. Curators Melissa Reimer and Ryan Dewsbury bring a bold new vision and fresh perspectives to the event, with nearly one-third of participating artists making their festival debut this year.

Visitors are invited to explore over 200 works, ranging from intimate handcrafted objects to striking large-scale installations, crafted in a variety of materials and styles. The festival offers something for collectors, art lovers, and the simply curious alike.

•    Great Hall: Small-to-medium pieces available to view daily from 10am–5pm
•    North Quad: Larger works on display and accessible at any time

During opening weekend, visitors can take part in a range of artist-led creative workshops. On Saturday 4 October, Jane McCulla leads a clay vessel-making workshop. On Sunday 5 October, tamariki can join the Kids Clay Sculpture Workshop, responding to the architecture of The Arts Centre, while Tatyanna Meharry and Carrie Dingwall host Now You See Me!, an imaginative session exploring the lives of native moths through dimensional art-making. Separate tickets are required for workshop sessions – spaces are limited so booking in advance is recommended.

Each piece in the Sculpture Festival tells its own story, and every sale supports both the artist and the future of The Arts Centre. As a major annual fundraiser for Te Matatiki Toi Ora, the Sculpture Festival plays a vital role in sustaining Ōtautahi Christchurch’s unique creative hub.
