Company Theatre presents this hilarious but bittersweet comedy about the challenges faced by women over sixty as they try to put the past behind them and move into uncharted territory.
Lucille and Doris are part of a unique club. Every month they meet at Ida's New York house for tea, then trundle off together to the cemetery to remember the good times and gossip with their late husbands. But eventually one of them rebels: “I officially resign from this cemetery club... I refuse to be in a club in which half the members are dead!” And when Sam meets the widows while he’s visiting his wife's grave, all of their lives are changed forever. This touching play about three feuding Jewish women is funny, wise & gloriously witty – and in 1993 was made into a Hollywood film starring Olympia Dukakis, Diane Ladd and Ellen Burstyn.
At our production’s helm is veteran director Kathy Gent, and it features the following stellar cast –
