The Whakatipu Chronicle 2026 is a portfolio exhibition of outstanding paintings, sculpture, ceramics and photography from leading NZ artists. Displayed across all three galleries, we witness remarkable visual conversations between Amanda GruenwaldIan ScottGretchen Albrect and Russell Moses, alongside that of Ralph HotereIsrael Tangaroa BirchDarryn George and Chris Heaphy.

Included are new sculptures by Matthew WilliamsChris Charteris and Elizabeth Thomson and an iconic Paul Dibble huia bronze. Important photographic works by Yuki KiharaVincent Ward and Jane Ussher feature.

Karl MaughanDick FrizzellMichael HightSimon Edwards, Miranda Joseph and Toss Woollaston are represented by signature works. The enthralling cross-cultural ceramic works of Aaron Scythe are counterpointed by those of acclaimed Mark Mitchell and the formal brevity of Kathryn Smyth.
