The 19th edition of the Estuary Art and Ecology Awards will take place at UXBRIDGE Arts and Culture in Howick from 5 July to 30 August 2025.

Recognised nationally as Aotearoa’s only art award dedicated to ecological themes, the Estuary Art and Ecology Awards invite contemporary artists to produce new works of art that research and respond to environmental concerns around the Tāmaki Estuary and its extensive tributaries.

With a total prize pool of $9,800, the winning artworks are intelligent and innovative responses to ecology in the field of contemporary art, cultivating local talents and bringing awareness to our Taonga.

Generously supported by Howick Local Board, the Rice Family Partnership, Gordon Harris Art Supplies and the Tāmaki Estuary Environmental Forum (TEEF).

Judging the Estuary Awards in 2025 is Hannah Buckley, Professor of Ecology and the Head of the School of Science at Auckland University of Technology.

Artists can submit entries for the awards between 4 April and 23 May 2025 with entry forms and terms and conditions available through the UXBRIDGE website. Finalists will be notified by 13 June and their work will be displayed in the Malcolm Smith Gallery at UXBRIDGE from 5 July to 30 August.  Winners will be announced at the opening function on 5 July with the People’s Choice Award announced following the conclusion of the exhibition.

Entry forms and terms and conditions are available at www.uxbridge.org.nz
