Arts Digital Marketer (Part-Time)

Ōtautahi Christchurch (or Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland)
20 hours/week

The Arts Foundation Te Tumu Toi has been backing Aotearoa New Zealand’s most exceptional artists since 2000. We’ve awarded more than 200 creatives, run the country’s only arts crowdfunding platform (hi Boosted!), and returned over $20 million directly to artists — powered entirely by the generous people of Aotearoa.

We believe the arts are essential to a better, bolder, more connected Aotearoa. And we’re about to celebrate 25 years of doing just that.

So! We’re on the lookout for a part-time Arts Digital Marketer who loves the arts as much as we do, loves socials (all of them) and knows the power they have to connect audiences, can tinker around a website back-end, dream a digital content strategy, and is keen to grow and engage our online community.

The role, in a nutshell

You’ll be our digital connector — planning, creating and sharing stories about our artists, and the people who back them. You’ll run our social media, manage email campaigns, update our website, attend events to capture magic, and help shape how we show up online.

You’ll also get to work alongside a passionate, creative team that believes in the power of the arts to build a better future.

Key things you’ll be doing

  • Leading content calendars, digital planning and audience engagement strategies
  • Managing our social media platforms (FB, IG, TikTok, LinkedIn – maybe more!)
  • Writing, posting, scheduling and tagging (you know the drill)
  • Briefing in digital assets to our internal design team (and where possibly, rolling out your own from templated design)
  • Building and sending out eDMs and managing our growing supporter database
  • Updating our website with current campaigns, events and artist news
  • Creating content (photo, video, reels) at events, on the go – or from behind the desk
  • Reporting on what’s working on our digital channels, and how to make them even better
  • Building a thriving, authentic online community for the arts (and arts lovers) in Aotearoa

We’d love you to have

  • 2+ years’ experience in digital marketing or social media management
  • A sharp eye for visuals, a natural feel for brand tone, and great written skills
  • High attention to detail (correct spelling and accurate artist credits and award titles are a must)
  • Experience using platforms like Monday.com, Figma, Mailchimp, Metricool, Dashthis, Google Analytics, Vimeo, Meta Business Suite, Survey Monkey, Linktree and Spotify (or keen to learn)
  • A love for ALL of the arts (visual, theatre, music, digital, dance, poetry, and more) and a deep understanding of their value in Aotearoa
  • A knack for community engagement and connecting with people
  • A self-starter mindset — but you love collaborating too
  • Experience working in (or being a part of) the arts or not-for-profit sector
  • Photography or video editing skills (even on your phone!)
  • Familiarity te ao Māori and te reo Māori and a commitment to being tangata Te Tiriti

Details you might want to know

  • This is a part-time role (20 hours/week), with some flexibility on how those hours are worked
  • Preferred location is Ōtautahi Christchurch, but we’re open to applicants from Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland
  • You’ll report to our Brown Bread Head of Communications, and work closely with our wider team

If this sounds like you

Please submit a brief expression of interest (by way of cover letter) and your CV, through the Seek portal.  Please ensure your cover letter includes examples of your digital work (and links to social accounts you’ve managed).

We’re keen to hear from you, even if you don’t tick every box — especially if you bring passion for the arts, curiosity, and heart. We welcome applicants from all walks of life and value diversity in our team.

Applications close 5pm, Friday 9 May 2025.
