Salary range: $61,500 - 66,500 FTE
Are you passionate about the visual arts and dedicated to engaging audiences with creative and educational experiences? The New Zealand Portrait Gallery Te Pūkenga Whakaata is seeking a dynamic and motivated Audience Engagement Coordinator to contribute to our mission of enhancing appreciation for portraiture through engaging communications, events, and programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Public Programmes: Design, plan, and deliver engaging events such as artist talks, workshops, and community activities. Work closely with artists, curators, and specialists to ensure our programmes meet diverse audience needs.
- Education Facilitation: Build relationships with schools and develop educational materials that inspire both young learners and their families. Promote and facilitate school visits and educational activities.
- Communications: Craft and execute strategies to increase engagement via social media, e-newsletters, and our website. Promote exhibitions and events across various platforms.
- Retail Management: Oversee the Gallery shop, developing and promoting exhibition-related merchandise. Support front-of-house staff with customer service and ensure financial protocols are met.
- Front of House Coordination: Manage staff rostering, recruitment, and training to ensure smooth daily operations of the Gallery.
- Events Coordination: Organise and manage external hires for events, including liaising with clients, setting up, and ensuring the Gallery is maintained post-event.
About You:
- Qualifications & Experience: A relevant tertiary qualification in Museum Studies, Fine Arts, Education, or Communications is preferred. Experience in audience engagement, arts marketing, arts management, education or public programmes is desired.
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, creative problem-solving, and a keen eye for detail. Proficiency with social media, content creation, and administrative tools is essential.
- Cultural Knowledge: Knowledge of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, te reo Māori, and tikanga Māori is highly valued.
