Christchurch Symphony Orchestra (CSO) is recognised nationally, and celebrated locally, for the depth of their work. CSO believes that music enriches lives in different ways, and provides a wide range of media in which their audience can discover, encounter, and enjoy great musical experiences. CSO contributes to the cultural diversity of the community through a full and varied concert season, as the orchestra of choice for many touring artists and other arts organisations, including the Royal New Zealand Ballet. CSO’s Ki te Hapori In the Community programme comprises 60% of the orchestra’s output and includes school residencies, collaborations with organisations such as Platform, Southern Music Therapy, library and retirement village performances, and civic events. The orchestra is based in CSO Centre, co-located with the Christchurch Town Hall, at which they are the Orchestra in Residence.
