Mahi | The Role
As Director of Te Atamira, you will lead the organisation’s strategic vision, ensuring it remains a dynamic and inclusive centre for arts and culture. This role requires a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, with an understanding of Tikanga Māori and the ability to foster relationships that uphold Mana Whenua and Māoritanga values.
You will oversee the development and delivery of the annual strategic plan, drive fundraising efforts through engagement with private and public sector partners, and curate a diverse programme of events that promote artistic exchange locally and internationally. You will also build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, sponsors, and patrons to ensure broad community engagement.
The Board of Trustees are committed to supporting the Director’s success, with clear fundraising strategies in place to strengthen revenue streams and enable long-term sustainability. Relocation assistance will be provided for the successful candidate, including support to connect with the vibrant Queenstown community.

Ō Pūkenga me Ō Wheako | Your Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have senior leadership experience in an arts, cultural, or community setting, along with a strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application. You will be an energetic, action-oriented leader with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of fostering inclusive relationships and promoting cultural equity.
A proven track record in event planning, venue management, and programme development is essential, alongside strong financial management and problem-solving capabilities. Expertise in user design, brand development, and technology solutions is highly valued.
You will be a strategic thinker, able to inspire and lead diverse teams while driving a shared vision for Te Atamira’s future.
A Master’s degree or qualification in the arts, arts administration, or a related field, and at least five to ten years of experience in the arts, not-for-profit, or community sectors, are required.
